Significance of Mahashivratri :According to Hindu Mythology, Mahashivratri is celebrated as a sign to mark the day, Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati tied the nuptial Knot. It is celebrated on the 14th (Fourteenth) day of the dark fortnight Phalguna (the Twelfth month of the Hindu calendar.
Lord Shiva signifies “Mindfulness” whereas Goddess Parvati is known for “Nature”; the union of both eases the pathway of Creation.
It is believed that after the Nuptial Knot, Lord Shiva performed a heavenly dance combination of Creation, destruction, and preservation i.e. “Tandav.”
